Abstract

The landscape of work in India is undergoing a seismic shift, driven by the explosive emergence of the gig economy. Driven by cheap internet and a booming tech ecosystem, a hyper-connected consumer base has fuelled an unprecedented demand for on-demand services. This economic evolution has triggered a massive workforce migration, marking a definitive shift from traditional employment characterized by stable, fixed salaries and structured corporate ladders to platform-based work. Today, millions of delivery executives, ride-hailing drivers, and freelance professionals form the backbone of this decentralized labour pool.
