Abstract

This blog analyses the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and its role in strengthening consumer rights and dispute resolution mechanisms in India. It discusses the evolution of consumer protection with changing market practices, especially the growth of digital commerce. The article highlights key rights of consumers, the functioning of District, State, and National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions, and the introduction of mediation and the Central Consumer Protection Authority. It further examines challenges such as lack of awareness, delays, accessibility issues, and enforcement gaps. The blog concludes that effective implementation and consumer awareness are essential for achieving meaningful protection under the law.
