Government Acquisition of Land: Effect on Compensation

The paper aims to analyze the effect of acquisition of land by the Government authorities in India by analyzing statutes like the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Re-settlement (RFCTLARR) Act, 2013 and the various amendments to it. The paper will also provide a case analysis of landmark judgements. The paper will further investigate the right to property as a constitutional right under the Constitution of India and aim to understand the balance fair compensation and development. The paper will also aim to study and analyze how the amendments to the LARR act have impacted the original act. Further the paper will suggest how compensation can be made fair and transparent.
