Abstract

The Thane Commissionerate has issued an ₹803.4 crore GST demand to Zomato for alleged unpaid taxes on delivery charges, highlighting a dispute over whether the company acts as a principal supplier or a pure agent. This statutory challenge risks significantly altering the financial models of gig-economy platforms.
