Abstract

This article traces the shift from the rigid, sequential Waterfall model of software development to the Agile methodology born from the 2001 Agile Manifesto's four core values. It outlines major Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, APF, SAFe) and their comparative use cases, and draws on a 2023 McKinsey framework to describe the hallmarks of Agile organisations: Shared purpose, empowered teams, quick-cycle management, and enabling technology. It closes by outlining practical steps for implementation, including framework selection, role definition, and sprint-based work breakdown, tracing Agile's expansion from a software-specific practice into a broader organisational management philosophy.
