Abstract

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) become increasingly integrated into daily life, they raise complex legal and ethical challenges in India. These include concerns over data privacy, liability, intellectual property, cybersecurity, and algorithmic bias. While India lacks a dedicated AI law, existing frameworks like the IT Act, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (2023), and NITI Aayog’s AI strategy offer partial regulation. The IndiaAI Mission (2024) further supports ethical development. As AI evolves, India’s legal system must adapt swiftly to ensure accountability, safeguard rights, and enable responsible innovation.
