Abstract

This paper critically examines the legal, social, and human rights dimensions of the Death Penalty and Life Imprisonment. It analyses the effectiveness of both punishments in delivering justice, preventing crime, and maintaining social order. Through comparative legal analysis and international perspectives, the study highlights the growing shift toward reformative and human-rights-based approaches in modern criminal justice systems. The paper concludes that while both punishments seek to protect society, life imprisonment is increasingly viewed as a more humane and constitutionally balanced alternative to capital punishment.
