Abstract

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming modern society while exposing significant gaps in existing legal frameworks. This article examines whether India's current laws are equipped to address emerging challenges relating to privacy, accountability, algorithmic bias, deepfakes, and AI-driven decision-making. It evaluates the adequacy of existing legal and regulatory mechanisms and highlights the need for a balanced framework that promotes innovation while safeguarding transparency, fundamental rights, and public interest. The article concludes that India must adopt a comprehensive and forward-looking approach to AI governance to ensure responsible technological development.
