E-COMMERCE REGULATIONS IN INDIA: AN ANALYSIS

Since 2009, India's e-commerce industry has expanded at an astounding 34% Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR). But like many other thriving industries, this one face difficulties, one of which is a weak and ineffective legal and regulatory structure that cannot handle protecting the rights and responsibilities Since of the contracting parties. In June 2000, India passed the Information Technology Act. However, this is merely an enabling statute; additional rules are required to improve the fairness of e-commerce transactions and create a more consumer-friendly e-commerce environment in India. This essay aims to examine India's current e-commerce rules and regulations, their efficacy in addressing e-commerce-related legal concerns, and whether any additional provisions are necessary.
