Abstract
The episodes of forceful migration have always been a very dreadful situation for those who were forced to migrate. Such people endured great miseries throughout the episode. One such dreadful event was the Trial of Tears, the episode which led to the coerced displacement of the native Indians from their native land to an unsettled land. The trial of tears happened with the implementation of the horrendous Indian Removal act which was signed and passed as law by the then President of United States, Andrew Jackson. The winter in which the trial of tears took place was one of the dark winters in the United States history, some thousand people buried on the shallow land on their way to their new unknown land without even stopping to pay the last respect, barefooted, kids starving, elderly suffering and all these led to the dark chapter: “the trial of tears.” This paper focuses on the impacts of such forceful migration and the sufferings of people due to such forceful deportation. Analysing the factors that led to the coerced migration and the predicament faced after the forced migration by the people in their new land. Relating the analysis to the schools of thought and portraying the Indian removal act’s effect on the indigenous people. The paper also explores more about the Indian removal act and the factors that constituted to its implementation. Unfolding the injustices faced by the native Indians, the denied human rights, the deprived Cherokee people and what not.
