Abstract

This article focuses on the “right to die with dignity” as a medico-legal discourse under the case of Harish Rana v. Union of India. This article traces how courts interpret autonomy, dignity and personal liberty when a person’s health reaches unrecoverable levels. It examines how the constitutional framework recognises end-of-life choices along with the value of humane treatment. It evaluates the effects of such ethical decisions on healthcare professionals, patients and their families. Ultimately, this approach balances out patient rights and their right to live or die with dignity.
