Abstract

The case J.S. Jadhav v. Mustafa Haji Mohamed Yusuf (AIR 1993 SC 1535) is one of the key judgments that highlights the duty of a lawyer with respect to ethics and trustworthiness in terms of Lawyers Act of 1961. In this case, one of the advocates committed professional misconduct by abusing the finances of his clients and then attempting to hide his wrongdoings through false evidence. It was decided by the Supreme Court that the actions of the advocate were a serious professional misconduct and imposed disbarment along with returning of misappropriated funds.
