Abstract

Innovation is like the currency of the digital time, and intellectual property is the key that keeps it safe. Think about putting months of efforts on a unique mobile app, crafting a distinctive logo, or producing truly original digital content then, only to realize, it’s been copied and spread online within hours. Honestly, this isn’t some far off, made-up situation anymore, it’s becoming a pretty normal reality in today’s fast moving internet world. As India keeps moving toward a technology-based economy, ideas have started to matter more than physical stuff. From startups, and software developers to artists, entrepreneurs and content creators, intellectual property now forms the base, or the backbone of innovation. Yet the thing is, technology changes so quickly, that the law is often arriving late. So, here’s the key concern, is India’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) framework prepared for what’s coming next?
