Abstract

Justice delayed is justice denied. This idea is becoming more relevant in India, where millions of cases are pending in courts at various levels. The growing backlog, along with the time and expense of traditional litigation, has led policymakers and legal experts to consider new ways to resolve disputes. One innovation is Online Dispute Resolution (ODR), a technology-based method that aims to settle disputes through digital platforms without requiring in-person appearances in courts or tribunals. As India adopts digital technology in many areas, ODR stands out as a promising option to make justice more accessible, affordable, and efficient. The key question is whether ODR can truly be India's most effective reform for justice.
